A PROFESSIONAL

Marcus Collins is a curious marketer with an academic insight into the drivers of social behavior. As the SVP of Social Engagement at Doner, a Detroit advertising agency, and the recipient of Advertising Age's 2016 40 Under 40, Collins' expertise in advertising offers a whole new perspective on the industry. In addition to his agency work, Collins is a lecturer of marketing at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, where he leads classrooms for MBA's and executive education.

On November 10th, 2017, I had the opportunity to sit down with Collins to hear his perspectives on advertising and social engagement. Though I worked closely with Collins this past summer at Doner, hearing more about his work in the industry over the years was truly refreshing. Though he

considers himself a "marketer," Collins is not traditional by any means. He even admits to hating marketers. His passion for people and his desire to be a part of brands that move people is exactly what we should want to see in advertisers.
